What time is it?
Который час?

Чтобы по-английски спросить который сейчас час, нужно задать вопрос:

What time is it? - Который час?

Этот вопрос достаточно универсальный и запомнить его совсем нетрудно. Вариантов ответа может быть, конечно же масса. Поэтому разберём эту тему детально.

Если сейчас, к примеру, десять часов, то мы скажем:

It's ten o'clock - Сейчас десять часов

Здесь используется уже привычное нам сочетание it is. После it is мы называем собственно число, обозначающее час, а в конце можем добавить традиционное для этого случая слово o'clock.
O'clock на русский это слово можно перевести как "часов". Чаще всего оно употребляется, когда мы говорим о "ровном" времени. Хотя, в принципе, его можно вообще опустить.

What time is it?
It's five o'clock = It's five

Если мы хотим еще больше усилить значение "ровно [столько-то часов]", то в конце можно добавить sharp.

It's five o'clock sharp - Сейчас ровно пять

Если же мы не знаем точно сколько сейчас времени, но приблизительно догадываемся, то можем употребить наречие about (около, приблизительно):

It's about five o'clock - Сейчас около пяти

При этом мы не стали уточнять, это 5 часов утра или вечера. Чтобы сделать это, достаточно в конце поставить аббревиатуру a.m. (до полудня) или p.m. (после полудня). А можно сказать in the morning (утра), in the afternoon (днём), in the evening (вечером).

It's five a.m. - Сейчас 5 утра
It's five p.m. - Сейчас 5 часов вечера
It is three in the afternoon - Сейчас три часа дня

Минуты

Говоря о минутах, надо запомнить, что если минутная стрелка ещё находится в правой половине циферблата, то конструкция будет такой: Минуты + слово past (после) + Час

It is ten minutes past one - Десять минут второго (дословно, 10 минут после часа)
или просто:
It's ten past one

It is twenty past six - Двадцать минут седьмого

В случае, если стрелка находится в левой части циферблата, то слово past уже не используется. Вместо него мы должны поставить to (до). Конструкция: Минуты - to - Час, в сторону которого движется минутная стрелка.

It's ten minutes to one - Без десяти час (дословно, 10 минут до часа)
It's five to eight - Без пяти восемь

Незаменимые слова при описании времени также half - половина и quarter - четверть.

It's half past six - Половина седьмого
It's half past seven - Половина восьмого

Как видно из примеров, слово half всегда сопровождается словом past (после).

Посмотрим на примеры с четвертью часа:

It's quarter past three - Четверть четвертого
Quarter to four - Без четверти четыре

Обрати внимание, что при ответе на вопрос What time is it? возможен краткий ответ, где it's просто опускается.

What time is it?
Ten past two - Десять минут третьего

What time is it?
Half past twelve - Половина первого

Попробуй самостоятельно сказать время по-английски, посмотрев на часы. Можешь ввести такую практику: всякий раз, когда смотришь на время, пытайся произнести его вслух на английском языке.

Для самоконтроля скажи следующее на английском языке:

Который час? - Без пятнадцати два
В Лонлоне сейчас половина шестого, а в Москве половина девятого
Сейчас ровно семь утра
В Париже сейчас 10 минут одиннадцатого вечера
Сейчас около трех дня

What date is it today?

Today we’ll learn how to tell the time in English. The theme of our lesson is «What time is it?»

Интерактивный тренажёр «What time is it?» предназначен для активизации и закрепления лексического материала по теме.

Задание заключается в следующем. Обучающиеся выбирают ответ на вопрос “What time is it?”, обращая внимание на картинку, и щёлкают мышкой на верном варианте. При неправильном ответе услышат звук щелчка. Переход на следующий слайд осуществляется по кнопке, которая появляется в случае верного ответа.
